The importance of time and time management.

"There are two blessings which many people lose: (They are) health and free time for doing good." (Bukhari 8/421)

With this above hadeeth being mentioned we want to expound on this In shaa Allaah (Allaah willing)

Time is something that is extremely valuable to all of mankind.
It is something once passed we cannot ever get back.
Yet we treat time as if it is something that will always be available when in reality it is so limited!

As women we are usually the backbone of our families, friends and even communities. And rightly so as we have a lofty status in Islaam. We've seen time and time again throughout islamic history how the women of the past (sahaabiyaat) played many roles while still maintaining their worship , modesty, and duties that were obligatory upon them.

We found that from the pious people of the past, scholars that were mountains of knowledge like Ibn Taymiyyah took advantage of their free time so much that we still benefit from their works even now! al-Hamdulillaah ( all praise is to Allaah)

You can find out more about this in his book here

But fast forward to now, women struggle so much with organizing time even though we have so many responsibilities to handle.

This makes for a very stressful life!
Many women do not understand that the feeling of being overwhelmed usually comes from not being organized!

How many times women come to me and say things like "I don't have any me time" or "i don't have any time with my husband" ... or even worse "my home is so unorganized the children are stressing me out."

Many of the modern day women of today have not learned the time management skills needed to make their lives easier. So we find many of the women unkept, stressed, depressed, overwhelmed and more.

Life does not have to be like that for us. The amount of responsibilities we have is not in essence what makes us overwhelmed. Rather its the WAY in which we handle those responsibilities that the hardship comes.

We have time for what we WANT to have time for.
We have time for social media
We have time to hang out
We have time to shop ,
We have time watch TV or movies
And for some women, they even spend their spare time gossiping! ... (may Allaah protect us from being like this Aameen)

But when it comes time to buckle down and do things that are productive and constructive, now all of a sudden "We don't have time."

A HUGE part of being a woman in any walk of life whether a wife, mother, employee, employer, student etc, is that we have to have our lives in order and put together!!!

This is a woman characteristic! Its not normal that we are always so stressed and overwhelmed and upset.

A woman is as smooth and light as the wind. Transitioning from one responsibility to the next with ease and grace!

Not bitter and upset and yelling and unkept.
Yet we find this is the norm now and its making for angry children , unorganized homes, unhappy husbands, bad companionship and many more ill effects.

We need to get it together and soon. Its not hard we just have to WANT it.

We will find that once we become organized with our time we see things like:

More time for extra worship
More time for your personal upkeep both inside and out
More quality time to spend with your spouse
More time with your children
More time even for hobbies if you like
Most of all no overwhelming feelings and no stress!
And the list goes on!

We will find ourselves enjoying and living in the moment instead of just trying to fulfill daily tasks in order to just get it over with.

You can find more about practical ways to manage time on my post called "10 tips on how to organize your time."

Time is short and we will all expire sooner than we want to think about.
So why not enjoy each day by becoming more organized and conscious of our time and what we spend our time doing.

This in turn will help us make for better women ... And with Allaah is the success.

    1. Yes be realistic. Limit what you put on your to do lists daily. Maybe jotting down only 2-3 tasks per day and seeing at the end of the day that you've actually completed them will help. A lot of times we just pile everything on those lists at one time. But really they should be broken up over the course of the week little by little so as not to overwhelm ourselves. And most of all seek the help of Allaah. At times i find myself flooded with things that need to be accomplished and i take a breath and ask Allaah right there " pleased help me to get everything done without stress." Remember that even to do lists and other tasks we do can actually be considered worship if we do for the sake of Allaah.
